JK Labajo on his role in ‘A Love to Last’: ‘I’m turning into a man’

<div><img src="" alt="011017-JKLabajo_PUSH.jpg" width="400" height="290" align="left" border="0"/>2017 is starting out to be a good year for Juan Karlos Labajo with the premiere of his new soap <a href="http://entertainment.abs-cbn.com/tv/shows/alovetolast/main">A Love to Last</a> last January 9 where he plays the role of the son of Ian Veneracion and Iza Calzado. &#x27;Ang story ko dito is mama’s boy ako so when my mom left us so parang yung galit ko ibinigay ko sa tatay ko na parang kasalanan niya ito eh. So yun yung dinibdib ko. Tumitigas ang ulo ko. I feel like in real life parang ganun din naman (laughs). Nag-re-rebelde ako, naglalayas kasi I don’t want to be around my dad that much dahil sa nangyari sa family. Maraming aabangan sa mga mangyayari sa buhay ni Lucas so manuod kayo,” he shared.</div>The 15-year-old actor-singer admits this is a far cry from his role as Amboy in last year’s hit remake of Pangako Sa ‘Yo. &#x27;My favorite part is ibang iba siya sa my last character sa Pangako Sa Yo. Kasi dun baliw ako dun eh. I’m the happy-go-lucky guy na parang wala akong pakialam sa mundo, wala akong pakialam sa mga problema ng ibang tao, I just care about myself and all the happiness. This is a more mature character naman and it’s a new thing kasi I think most of the characters I did before is parang the funny kid. So ngayon something new, parang I’m turning into a man, a big boy naman,” he admitted.JK said he did not find it hard to act in the new show because of his own childhood. “Kasi in real life when I grew up lola’s boy ako so when it comes to other people parang mas nakikinig ako sa lola ko. Parang ang nangyari sa A Love to Last, my mom left us si Miss Iza Calzado. Dahil dun mama’s boy ako, siyempre ang bini-blame ko si daddy (si Ian Veneracion). So parang dun ko pinupunto yung galit ko sa tatay ko dito kasi I love my mom so much that I would fight for her and fight my dad for her. Sa totoong buhay nakakahugot ako kasi madrama yung buhay ko minsan kaya nakakatulong naman siya,” he said.Even at a young age, the A Love to Last actor said he knows what his priorities are in life. &#x27;Ako kasi I set my priorities straight away kasi marami pa akong gustong makamit. I still want to buy my own house, my own car and my own everything and the things that I can’t buy before. So yung mga love love na yan andiyan lang yan magtatagal yan kahit 90 years old ka na may pag-ibig pa rin eh. Pero itong opportunity na ito like work in this show business, minsan lang ito so I’m grabbing the moment while I can and set aside muna yang mga love love kung anu-ano yan and focus muna sa work. Friendship na muna. Kasi friendship is the root of everything eh,” he said.With celebrities constantly being scrutinized online, JK said he is used to being in the public eye even after just a few years in showbiz. &#x27;Pag pumasok ka sa industry naman, yung privacy yun yung kapalit ng trabaho mo dito sa showbusines. If you want your privacy then dapat di ka na nag-artista. Sa mga artistang nag-ko-complain na wala na akong privacy, wala na akong freedom, or I can’t go out to the mall without yung mga taong nag-pa-pa-picture sa akin or yung mga ganun, then huwag ka ng mag-artista. Kaya ngayon I grabbed the opportunity while I can,” he added.
