Last May 21, 2016 marked the 22nd anniversary of Sushmita Sen’s reign as the Miss Universe 1994. This is memorable not only to Sushmita but also to her homeland India for she was the first Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe. The pageant was held in the Philippines.

Even Sushmita was nostalgic and posted her photo with the crown.

The beauty queen also took time to thank Carolina Gomez from Colombia, who was the 1st runner up when she won.

Carolina then sent her a tweet and said, “Hermosa Linda: HAPPY Anniversary! Always been beautiful inside and out. Worth the admiration of many! Te quiero!”

Many netizens from all around the world also sent Sushmita a congratulatory message and attached photos of her from the 1994 pageant.

During the same day of her 22nd anniversary, she dropped the bomb and announced that she’s turning 40 years old. But age is just a number for the beauty queen and she has “NO desire to be a day younger.”
