On the first day of filing of candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections, Robin Padilla took to Instagram last October 11 to share clip of his “ninang sa kasal”, the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. In the video that seemed to be a sermon of the senator to corrupt public officials, Robin wrote what he thought his ninang would say if he would run for public office.

Frankly she will tell me You will be killed and silence! That is no place for lions because that place is a crocodile farm. You will be eaten alive in their very muddy and stagnant little Pond.

Robin also added a quote from his movie Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum.

“Frankly she will tell me, ‘You will be killed’ and ‘Silence! That is no place for lions because that place is a crocodile farm. You will be eaten alive in their very muddy and stagnant little pond,’” Robin ended.

Robin has been vocal on his political views. He is about to star in a movie about the Marawi siege titled Children of the Lake, under Spring Films productions.

Robin also recently became a hot topic when Sharon Cuneta made social media post after he missed the latter’s concert last week.
