After first working with Star Cinema more than two decades ago, director Tony Y. Reyes said he has always enjoyed his experience with the Kapamilya network. “Dati naman ako dito. I started with Star Cinema nung Hindi Pa Tapos ang Labada. I think that was in 1994. And then last movie na ginawa ko [My Illegal Wife]. Okay naman pinapayagan naman ako gumawa ng pelikula sa Star Cinema,” he shared during the grand media launch of his new horror-comedy Da One That Ghost Away (DOTGA) held last April 12 in the ABS-CBN compound.

Working with his two lead stars Kim Chiu and Ryan Bang for the very first time was also easy for direk Tony. “Sobrang na-amaze ako kasi hindi ko alam na ganun sila kakuwela and ganun ka-open and everything. At saka maganda yung naging samahan namin from the storycon pa lang hanggang sa shooting hanggang ngayon. Super saya yung pagsasama even sa set. Kadalasan sumasabog na nga kami sa kakatawa eh. Super saya talaga,” he admitted.

Handling a big cast which includes actors like Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Moi Bien, Enzo Pineda, Chokoleit, Lassy, Marissa Delgado, and Odette Khan was also a big challenge for the veteran director. “Actually naging challenge pero nung nakasama ko nga sila, iba yung nakita kong rapport sa kanila eh. Kumbaga parang matagal na silang magkakasama. Kaya kung makikita niyo sa mga eksena talagang all out yung comedy, yung wackiness nila lahat. Walang pretensions. Go lang sila ng go, ganun. Kaya hindi mahirap i-handle,” he said.

The DOTGA director shared that his new movie will be entertaining because it has a mix of different genres. “It’s a package na may comedy, may horror, may drama, may love, and everything na kasama dun sa concept. So definitely ibang klase ang naging takbo ng scenario ng comedy na ito. Super fun talaga ang mga eksena namin. Pagdating ng shooting namin, nag-cut ka na pero tawa pa rin sila ng tawa. Ganun kasaya yung trabaho namin,” he added.
