What happened to Eric “Eruption” Tai after he left It’s Showtime when it was reformatted in 2016?

Two years after his departure from the show, Eruption finally opened up about what has kept him busy during the bloggers’ conference for the primetime soap Bagani, which he currently stars in.

“Straight after that, siyempre kailangan isipin kung anong pwede nating gawin sa buhay. And then The Amazing Race (Asia) came out, and me and my wife (Rona Samson) did it. We came third (place), which is a very big accomplishment sa’min kasi bihira ‘yung mga mag-asawa na mag-reality TV show ng gano’n so we are really proud of that,” he told the media.

The celebrity rugby player said, “Ever since then, nag-focus ako sa business, sariling business… and then hosting pa rin, events. Trying to stay in the limelight as much as possible kasi hindi pwedeng mawala sa mainstream. Or if you can, try and get as much exposure as you can.”

For now, he is doing Bagani starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. He previously starred in the former primetime teleserye La Luna Sangre with Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.

Sharing a learning experience, he said, “Ang isang natutunan na bagay na napakaimportante sa akin is that whenever you’re given a chance to get a role, do the best you can. You work your butt off. You do all that you can to get that and hindi mo alam, baka the next day or next week, tatawagan ka ulit, you got another role for another project.

“Dahil sa Bagani, I was given a shot as higante lang, ‘yung nilabas two-three weeks ago. And sabi ni Direk Lester (Pimentel), ‘Nagustuhan namin ‘yung action-action mo. Hindi namin alam na meron kang ganyan kasi sa Showtime, puro patawa, sayaw, hataw-hataw, hosting,’” he said, adding that after that, an opportunity came. He is now a part of the “Tulisan” on the show.

“Lahat kami talagang blessed dahil ‘dun, eh. You just never know kung kailan ka matawag ulit for another work… kaya stay ready lang,” he added.
