If there’s one thing we learned about Jose Mari Chan in our latest interview with him, it’s that he is the living proof of the saying ‘age is just a number.’

At the age of 74, he still keeps on rolling - doing the things he loves most while pursuing other endeavors one would think only young ones can do.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH for his new version of “A Perfect Christmas” where he re-recorded the said song with fresh, chart-topping OPM artists for Spotify, Jose Mari Chan talked about a lot of stuff - including the music of his sons and what he does when he’s not singing for his fans.

Chan, whose sons Joe & Mike recently released an album, couldn’t be any prouder for what his two boys have become over the years.

“I’ve listened to their compositions. And to be honest with you, many of their songs are even superior to my music in terms of structure, chord progression, chord changes,” he proudly shared.

Chan added: “Very sophisticated. I’m very proud of them. As they say, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

While Jose Mari Chan’s two daughters - Elizabeth Ann Chan-Parpan and Marie Angelica Chan -have also inherited his musical talent, the two girls are currently key players in one of the Ilonggo-born musician’s new ventures.

Jose Mari Chan owns the Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company Inc. and A. Chan Sugar Corporation which he both credits as the enterprises that supported his family.

“Many people don’t know that music is just my hobby. I have a business. I’m in the sugar business,” he shared.

He went on: “And that’s what keeps me going and that’s what supports my family. I’m in the sugar business that I inherited from my father. I’m running the business even until now.”

Unknown to many, the legendary OPM artist is also into the real estate industry with his two daughters.

“I’m into real estate in a small way. Estate development, but in a small way,” he said, referring to his Morning Glow Development Corporation for which he serves as the president.

Earlier this year, Jose Mari Chan led the groundbreaking ceremony of a seven-hectare village called Villa Florencia Subdivision in Bacolod City. Also part of his development project is the Villa Magdalena Commercial Center.

Meanwhile, you can listen to Jose Mari Chan’s collaboration with Ben&Ben, December Avenue, Moira Dela Torre, I Belong To The Zoo, and Julie Anne San Jose in the link below:
