when he finally popped the question and Shyre, of course, answered yes. Though the two have yet to exchange “I dos”, the international singing sensation said that he’s happy and excited to wed the love of his life soon. “I don’t know what the future brings but I am looking forward to marrying the woman I love and be with the family I choose,” he said in an interview with <a href="https://lifestyle.abs-cbn.com/photos/1677/love-actually-jake-zyrus-on-building-a-family-with-fan-turned-fiance-shyre-aquino/#shyre-aquino-and-jake-zyrus"><u><strong>ABS-CBN Lifestyle</strong></u></a> recently.</p><p>For roughly two years now, the couple has been able to keep their relationship as far from the glare of publicity as possible. Hence, it’s surprising to learn that Shy has been a longtime fan of Jake, a transgender man, even then when he was still identifying as Charice Pempengco. “She started as a fan and I only met her in one of my shows,” he said. Later, he would find that they fit the “opposites attract” narrative. “She is the outgoing type of person and I describe myself as an introvert. [Nonetheless,] we both have learned to walk in each other’s shoes and manage to be the best versions of ourselves.”</p><p>Previously, Jake shared that it was Shyre’s unwavering dedication to their relationship that urged him to commit at last. “It was how we handled the bad times. Doon ko na-realize, &#x27;I&#x27;m going to keep this person.&#x27; Hindi lang dahil sa love and iyon ang pinakamaganda doon,” he told ABS-CBN News, adding that theirs is “totally different” from what he had in the past. “Usually sa isang relationship, first year pabebe ka pa. First month pa lang ng relationship namin, naging kumportable ako sa kanya.”</p><p>“Noong time na nag-top surgery ako, siya ‘yung nag-alaga sa akin. Sinabi ko, I was going to transition… Nakilala niya ako noong Charice ako at sabi niya sa akin, ‘Mahal kita kasi ikaw ‘yan,’,” he added.</p><p>But it doesn’t end at commitment. On what keeps their romance alive and strong, Jake said, “Respect and understand each other’s beliefs, reach your dreams together, and enjoy success with the people who believe in you when no one else does.”</p>
