Up Dharma Down vocalist Armi Millare and Norwegian pop/jazz band D’Sound surprised their fans with yet another collaboration barely a year since the release of their first collaborative track ‘Lykkelig.'

Last Friday, August 2, marked the launch of ‘Somewhere in Between’, which will be featured in D’Sound’s upcoming eight studio album, ‘Unicorn’, scheduled for a release on September 6.

On Instagram, the Filipina singer revealed that she and the band co-wrote the song “almost by accident.” “What I thought was just an exercise to flex it out turned out to be one of my favourite tracks with [Kim Ofstad] and [Jonny Sjo]. If I were old enough to write songs in 1997 this would be it. Time does spiral and if the energy is strong, it will come together no matter how long it takes or how far you have to go,” she added.

In a quick chat with CNN Philippines, Ofstad and Sjo described Armi as “a very strong songwriter” and an experimental musician. “[We] love that she’s so relaxed and easygoing. She’s willing to try out new things, move out of her comfort zone, but at the same time focused on the music,” they said.

“Her positivity is contagious and as we got to know her and work more with her the more we learned that we share the same focus; making music together that we like… She writes amazing lyrics and together with a magic voice this has inspired us big-time. Another thing is that we have developed a great friendship together and maybe that also makes the music feel even stronger,” they added.

The band, which has performed in Manila several times over the years, also revealed their plan to return to the Philippines hopefully within the first half of next year.
