This is how Bugoy Drilon gained self-respect through friends Michael Pangilinan and Daryl Ong

While Bugoy Drilon made a name for himself after joining Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 back in 2008, his versatility as an artist became more apparent when he became part of the trio BuDaKhel with Daryl Ong and Michael Pangilinan.But what most people don’t know is the fact that BuDaKhel has helped him not only in showcasing what he has to offer, but also improve his character and personality.The 29-year-old singer, who admitted he now learns how to dress up properly, shared how he gained self-respect after joining BuDaKhel. “I gained din a bit of respect din po sa sarili. Kasi tumakbo din po ako sa kanila. Kasi natalo din po kasi ako as parang senior and novelty because of the way I looked before. And nung napasama ako sa kanila, parang I have to dress up para makasabay ako sa kanila. Nung na-meet ko sila, parang na-engganyo din ako na I have to look good na okay para ‘pag magkakasama na kaming tatlo, pleasing sa mga mata nila,” he stated. He went on: “Parang in a way, it’s an improvement, grow up process sa akin. Hindi lang sa music career, pati sa character itself nakatulong.”While fans may look at BuDaKhel as a group, Bugoy sees it beyond than that because he considers them as a family. Having siblings who happen to be all girls, Bugoy couldn’t be more happy to have found brothers in them. “Para ko silang [mga] kapatid. Minsan palagi po nila akong inaalaska. Solo lang po kasi akong son sa family. I don’t have men na nakikita sa family ko kasi puro po babae kapatid ko. Nung nameet ko sila, para silang kapatid ko talaga—the way nila ako alaskahin, the way nila ako pangaralan ‘pag may mali. So na-appreciate ko ‘yun kasi hindi lang sila through music. Hino-hone din nila ako to be better sa sarili ko,” he said. BuDaKhel was first formed after the three boys did a cover of a song inside a dressing room after a guest performance on <a href="https://entertainment.abs-cbn.com/tv/shows/itsshowtime/main">It’s Showtime</a>.Bugoy Drilon is set to have a concert with Daryl Ong at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre this coming September 14. They will be joined by Michael Pangilinan and Katrina Velarde as special guests.
