WATCH: SB19 showcases Filipino heritage in #PhilKorFest2020 performance

<p>SB19 honored their Filipino heritage during the 2020 Philippines-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival held last Saturday, October 31. </p><p>The five-piece group, who performed “Alab” and “Go Up” outside the National Museum of Natural History and in front of the monument of National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Rizal Park, donned outfits made of handwoven fabrics from various parts of the country. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2020/9/20/fresh-scoops/watch-sb19-members-surprise-sejun-on-his-birthday-231710" target="_blank"><u><strong>WATCH: SB19 members surprise Sejun on his birthday</strong></u></a></div><p>Members Sejun, Josh, and Stell wore outfits made from Inaul — a traditional handwoven fabric of Maguindanao weaved in Cotabato. </p><p>Ken, on the other hand, wore pisyabit — a handwoven fabric of the Tausug ethnic group of Sulu, which, according to Balik Batik, “is characterized by intricate geometric patterns, and a whole tapestry can feature different designs.”</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2020/8/7/fresh-scoops/stunning-paramores-hayley-williams-praises-sb1-230690" target="_blank"><u><strong>READ: ‘Stunning’: Paramore’s Hayley Williams praises SB19’s Sejun for song cover</strong></u></a></div><p>Justin wore an outfit made of Yakan handwoven fabric from Basilan’s ethnic group of the same name known for their “vibrant weaving tradition.” </p><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="453" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tjTlA-USDO4" width="806"></iframe></div><p>Other artists who performed at the #PhilKorFest2020 include Dasuri Choi, KZ Tandingan, Star Hunt Academy Trainees, World Music Band ID from Korea, and Celso Espejo Rondalla from the Philippines.</p><p>Watch the full video <a href="https://www.facebook.com/KoreanCulturalCenterPH/videos/653031412035998" target="_blank"><u><strong>here</strong></u></a>: </p><p>The theme for this year’s event — “We Rise Together” — is a culmination of the month-long celebration aimed to highlight the unparalleled friendship and the rich culture of both the Philippines and Korea through an online concert. </p><p>Now on its 29th year, 2020 PhilKor was made possible through the collaboration of various agencies including the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, together with the United Korean Community Association in the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. </p><div><br/> </div>
