Kyle Echarri reveals his biggest challenge last year: ‘My mental health was not the best’

In his first acting project this year, teen actor Kyle Echarri plays a role unlike his character in his last soap <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/kadenangginto" target="_blank">Kadenang Ginto</a>.“Yung character ko masasabi ko medyo nagbago yung character ko ng kaunti. I’m not the super good boy anymore. Sa Kadenang Ginto si Kristoff kasi kahit ang sama na ng ginagawa sa kanya ang bait niya pa rin sa tao. Pero dito si Rafa may pinagdaanan siya kasi kaya may ibang character kayong makikita dito. Apo ako ni tito Nonie (Buencamino) and si kuya RK (Bagatsing) ang kapatid ko. Yung character ko he’s part of a political family pero ayaw niya talaga sa politics and malalaman niyo kung bakit niya ayaw sa politics sa teleserye. May malalim na hugot yun eh,” he said.The new show also has his former Kadenang Ginto co-stars Andrea Brillantes and Francine Diaz switching roles from heroine to villainess and vice-versa which is exciting for Kyle.“I’m excited for them kasi mapapakita nila yung versatility nila bilang actress. Alam naman natin na napakagaling nilang dalawa. But it’s also such a big blessing and it’s something na alam kong kaya naming apat na gawin. I’m very thankful sa Dreamscape, sa ABS-CBN, at siyempre sa Diyos. God put us in this position and I’m very excited for the future and sa lahat ng binibigay sa amin ng Dreamscape. I’ve been in the industry for a while now and may mga times na iniisip ko bakit hindi pa ako tumigil? May mga times na hindi ako naniniwala sa sarili ko. But they believe in me more than I believe in myself and that makes me believe in myself even more. Kasi I got time to finally for myself more than people around me and thank of my mental health, my physical health. I’m also turning 18 so I feel like it’s the coming of age so I’m getting to that point. At least yung pandemic nakatulong sa akin in a way na before this, before the pandemic masasabi ko talaga na my mental health was not the best. Like when it comes to happiness, it wasn’t where I wanted it to be. And masasabi ko na nakatulong talaga itong pandemic na ito in order to prepare me for future projects and kung ano pang mararating sa akin,” he explained.During the <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/hkm2021" target="_blank">Huwag Kang Mangamba</a> virtual event, the 17-year-old actor also revealed another exciting project coming out soon with Andrea, Francine, and Seth.“May ginawa kaming apat makikita niyo kami very, very soon, may ginawa kami as individual artists hindi na as love team, pero Gold Squad pa rin, and makakasama namin yung ibang kasama namin sa Squad Plus,” he added.
