<p>As the most recent guest on Dr. Vicki Belo’s vlog to share her personal recipe for making her son Seve’s fried chicken, Toni Gonzaga-Soriano also had a candid talk about her family and marriage to director Paul Soriano. “Hindi perfect ang relationship. Pero together, after overcoming every struggle, na-pe-perfect through time. Parang na-excite na rin siya nun. Ako naman, alam mo yung nine-nerbiyos ka dun sa bagong chapter ng buhay mo. Hindi mo alam how you will do. So natatakot ako na excited ako na masaya. Pero parang kinakabahan. Kasi first time kong aalis sa bahay namin.</p><p>“I remember pag uuwi ako sa Taytay, pababa yun eh sa Tiendesitas. If you’re going home na to Taytay didiretso ka through yung crosswalk. I remember lumiko na ako sa right nun pa-south na. Naiyak ako nung una kong uwi. Ano yun, PBB, after Eviction Night una kong uwi na umuwi ako as may asawa, umiyak ako. Kasi for 30 years ng buhay ko, dun ako umuuwi sa lane na yun, tapos lumiko ako. Pero ang ganda pala pag nag-su-submit ka sa husband mo. Kasi that was really how it was. That’s the order. Yun ang order talaga na ginawa sa male at female, for the female to submit to the guy because nagkakaroon ng harmony. I was able to say no. That was the point in my life na I realized, I read this book by Sheri (Salata), she was the president or the CEO of Harpo Studios, kanang kamay ni Oprah Winfrey, she wrote a book the title is <i>A Beautiful No</i>. There’s beauty in saying no. You have to make your yes valuable. You cannot give your yes to a lot of people because it will not have value anymore.</p><p>“If yes ka ng yes sa lahat ng tao, then you’re giving your yes way too much. Wala na siyang value. My thinking before was, opportunity only knocks once. So bakit ako tatanggi? Pero minsan dadating ka pala sa point in your life where no means saying yes to yourself, parang ganun.
