Joko Diaz talks about why he prefers doing kontrabida roles

As part of the latest action film Hugas, Joko Diaz admitted that making action films has come a long way before it became available on streaming platforms like Vivamax.“Malaki ang kinaibahan sa dati at ngayon. Usually kasi pag gumagawa ka ng pelikula dati at action, magdadagdag ka ng mga dalawang milyon or P2.5M. Ngayon kumbaga may CGI na, minsan hindi mo na kailangan masyadong maglagay ng effects kasi sila na bahala. Malaki ang kinaibahan. Pero yung platform ngayon na may action, parang gagawin nilang 10% action, 20% action, tapos story na yung maiiwan. Kasi dati usually isang action scene sa umpisa, action scene sa gitna, and then action sa huli. Right now, empleyado ako ni boss Vic at under ako ng Viva. So kung anong sabihin ng mga boss ko yun lang nag gagawin natin. Comparing yung mga pelikula noon at pelikula ngayon, mas mabilis ang pelikula ngayon at saka hindi mas mahirap kasi hindi ka na mag-du-dubbing, on set kayo palagi dahil naka-lock-in kayo so it’s not hard. Actually ang atake diyan hindi katulad nung sa bida roles. Kasi yung bida roles kailangan malumanay ka eh. Yung sa character roles, medyo you can play with it. Puwedeng tahimik ka, puwedeng maingay ka, puwedeng galit ka palagi. So mas mahirap yung character roles. Pero mas mabigat pag yung bida ka dahil ang dinadala mo yung buong pelikula,” he explained.
