After a two-year break from live performances during the pandemic, singer Nina shared how it feels to be back on stage this month as a special guest on the Philippine leg of Danish band Michael Learns To Rock’s “Back On The Road Tour 2022” which kicks off on October 26 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

“Sobrang happy kasi even before I started with my album, nasa live scene na talaga ako eh. So nung nawala yung live scene talagang nakakalungkot kasi kumbaga yung mga live singers or artists we feed off the energy of the people. Kumbaga kung kumakanta kami, mas feel na feel namin kumbaga yung people kung mararamdaman namin yung energy. Yung sigawan, hiyawan, the smiles. So ngayon bumabalik na ang live scene. Nakakaiyak. I get emotional at times na nararamdaman yung mga hiyawan nila, yung mga palakpakan and all. So sobrang sarap ng feeling that the live scene is back already,” she admitted.

A self-confessed fan of the Danish soft rock and pop band, Nina shared that her favorite song from MLTR is their 1996 classic hit “Paint My Love.”

“Of course I’m one of their avid fans especially dahil sa mga songs nila. Hindi siya exaggerated pero talagang nakaka-excite to be a part of their concert dahil a lot of my friends too paborito nila ang Michael Learns to Rock also. I know lot of local artists want to be part of an international act. So kung ano man yung feeling nila, feeling excited, feeling thankful, feeling lahat lahat na siguro, feeling honored, yun na yung mga nafi-feel ko na sobrang nagpapasalamat ako to be part of a concert of a legendary band such as Michael Learns to Rock. So sobrang nakakatuwa at iba talaga yung feeling. I feel elated. Sobrang high, excited and all. Lahat na ng positive feelings,” she said.

As the lone Pinoy act in the show, Nina said she is not pressured to be the front act for the internationally known band.

“I feel that if you think about the pressure of being a front act, na kailangan mo to build them up and all, I feel doon ka magkaka-anxiety and everything eh. Pero if you think about singing and like enjoying what you’re doing, it will just come out naturally that people will feel it. So So kahit na medyo hindi sila uplifted or feeling sad or whatever, if they feel your energy while you’re singing they will pick it up. So I just do my best. I enjoy what I do and I hope they feel it too,” she explained.

Having been a performer for two decades now, Nina revealed how she continues to take care of her voice all these years.

“Kumbaga kasi lahat naman tumatanda. Pero ako kasi ever since ume-effort ako to take care of my voice. So noon pa man hanggang ngayon same pa rin kung paano ko siya alagaan yung boses ko. Like kung may show hindi ako nagpupuyat. Same pa rin yung pag-aalaga. Kahit international or local, same lang yung pag-pe-prepare ko. Pareho lang actually. I’m just much more excited now kasi nga international ang mga kasama ko (laughs),” she added.

Michael Learns To Rock will be touring the Philippines and performing in a three-city tour which includes Manila on October 26 at the Araneta Coliseum, Cebu City on October 28 at the Waterfront Hotel Ballroom, and Davao City on October 30 at the SMX Convention Center Davao. Michael Learns To Rock’s “Back On The Road Tour” is presented by Wilbros Live with Midas Promotions. Tickets are still available on TicketNet.com.ph, SMTickets.com, and SM Ticket outlets.
