Kapamilya stars Anne Curtis and Jane de Leon were recently announced as the new faces of Philippine telco brand Smart’s new campaign, as seen in their latest commercial.

Anne recently made a comeback after a two-year showbiz hiatus. The 37-year-old actress chose to focus on motherhood after giving birth to her daughter Dahlia Amelie in 2020. She returned to hosting the Kapamilya noontime program It’s Showtime last May.

In a virtual press conference on Monday, August 15, Anne, who has been with the telco brand for over 10 years now, teased about an upcoming project with them.

“Smart has allowed me to do so much. It’s almost like having superpowers, and I’m so proud to be part of this family, and I can’t wait for you guys to see what Smart and I have been working on,” she said.

Jane, on the other hand, stars in the new Kapamilya series Mars Ravelo’s Darna, taking on the role of the iconic superheroine. As this is her first time to endorse the brand, she said, “I can’t even begin to tell you guys how much this means to me. I’m so excited to endorse a network that really empowers me to do what I want, and whenever I want.” She, likewise, teased about a new project that she is working on with the company.

Describing the two women, Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business - Individual at Smart, said that the two are, “Both powerful and iconic women in their own special way.”

He described Anne’s “power” as “undeniable.” “She remains as the most followed Filipino celebrity on Instagram and Twitter, making her a relevant and influential icon in this generation,” he added.

As for Jane, Francis acknowledged her new role as this generation’s Darna. “Her journey in getting this life-changing role serves as an inspiration for everyone to power through challenges and never give up on your dreams and aspirations,” he said.

It was in 2019 when it was announced that Jane was the new Darna. Finally, the highly anticipated show premiered last August 15, and is currently airing on A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live, Cine Mo!, and on iWantTFC.
