Director Mikhail Red talks about possibility of making a sequel to ‘Deleter’

<p>With his first ever Metro Manila Film Festival entry Deleter topping the box office charts, director Mikhail Red admitted he is still surprised and thankful for the unexpected outcome of his horror film.</p><p>“Medyo hindi siya intentionally for MMFF at first pero ayun we’re very happy. It’s a pleasant surprise siya. Thank you everyone for supporting this type of film. Sana dumami pa yung ganito at maging dverse yung selection ng film. Iba yung feeling kasi ito nga yung platform na pinaka-pinapanuod talaga ng local audience. And as a filmmaker yun naman yung goal ko. Gusto ko malawak yung audience. So being recognized here is a great honor. Pero when I got to work with her nakita ko nga na we share the same vision and yung technique niya, talagang gusto niya rin yung craft eh. So nagkasundo kami agad and this is a role that she’s also excited about kasi kakaiba for her ang psychological thriller and horror. So nag-click talaga. Parang nag-align yung stars for this project. Maybe more genre films. Madami pang puwedeng gawin. There’s sci-fi maybe in the future,” he admitted.</p><p>As more and more fans continue to show support for his film, the Deleter director revealed that there is a possibility to create a sequel to the film.</p><p>“Sinadya namin na parang very open ended. Without spoiling the ending, it poses the question sa audience. Sinadya namin yun and we’ll see. We’ll talk to Viva. I think they’re very excited right now. Nag-be-brainstorm kami what’s next sa collaboration ko with Viva. And yun yung gusto ko sa kanila, they’re very creatively open and free. So parang I can’t wait what to do with them next kasi may a few more films kaming naka-sign with them,” he shared.</p><p>For 2023, direk Mikhail said he is excited to start taping for avery different kind of project for television early this year.</p><p>“Yung next ko actually sports series. Favorite genre ko rin yung mga sports na may tournament sa dulo. Pero hindi ko pa ma-reveal anong exact sport. Parang Mighty Ducks. Walang patayan naman, mas fun (laughs). Gusto ko i-try rin,” he added.</p>
