ABS-CBN just announced that  It’s Showtime will serve its 12-day suspension starting on October 14 to comply with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) ruling last September 28. The noontime variety program will make its return on October 28.

Though the show will be suspended, ABS-CBN maintained its position that it didn’t break any law to merit such a judgment.

“After careful consideration, ABS-CBN has decided not to appeal to the Office of the President the decision of the MTRCB on  It’s Showtime and instead serve the 12-day suspension starting October 14,” ABS-CBN shared in a statement.

“We respect the authority of MTRCB, but we humbly maintain that the program did not break any pertinent law,” they added.

“Our heartfelt thanks to our viewers for their unwavering love and support for  It’s Showtime, which will return on October 28 stronger and better than ever,” the statement concluded.

It was just last month when the MTRCB announced that the majority of the board members decided to deny the motion for reconsideration filed by GMA Network, Inc. and ABS-CBN on the suspension. According to Atty. Paulino Cases––MTRCB Board Member and Chairperson of Hearing and Adjudication Committee––27 out of the 30 board members voted to deny the motion of reconsideration.

ABS-CBN previously shared that they were “exploring” all the legal remedies and options possible. The MTRCB claimed that  It’s Showtime allegedly violated Section 3(c) of the Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its Implement Rules and Regulations.

The suspension comes after certain groups and individuals allegedly complained to MTRCB after feeling that the actions of hosts Ryan Bang, Vice Ganda, and Ion Perez during the Isip Bata segment was done inappropriately in presence of children.

MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto was revealed to have inhibited from the voting for the case of the noontime variety program. She added during their press conference that she is just doing her job as the head of MTRCB.
