After going public with their relationship earlier this year on social media, actor Marco Gumabao said his relationship with girlfriend Cristine Reyes turned out to be the best surprise of his life.

“Kahit naman ako nagulat eh (laughs). I mean, everything was very unexpected. Nothing was planned definitely. So everything just happened naturally and here we are. Kasi nag-start kami working out together. Kasama pa nga namin si Jake Cuenca eh. Like exactly a year ago. So wala talagang plans, anything to get into an intimate relationship. Kumbaga everything just happened naturally and yun nga, kumbaga, wala, ganun naman ang love di ba? Mabibigla ka na lang. You don’t plan,” he shared during the Cathy Valencia Skin Clinic 18th anniversary and thanksgiving birthday celebration held in Pasay City last December 7.

Marco admitted that his attraction to Cristine was already there even before they started hanging out at the gym.

“Dati ko pa naman siya crush eh. Dati pa naman. I think sa mga interviews, I always say kung sinong showbiz crush ko, I would always say Cristine. With Cristine, actually what you see is what you get eh. Pag nagpapa-interview siya, kung ano yung ugali talaga niya, she really shows it to everyone. Wala siyang tinatago. So I think that’s what’s nice also about her. Kasi mahirap yung tao na may tinatago in front of the camera. Tapos behind the camera iba palang tao siya. But I think kaya nag-click din kami ni Cristine kasi we both don’t show face to people. What you see is what you get, kumbaga,” he explained.

Although they won’t celebrate their first anniversary until early next year, Marco said he is happy with what he has already discovered about his girlfriend.

“Alam mo si Cristine sobrang maalaga. She really cares about me and of course ako rin. We both care about each other and yung pinaka-importante nga, we always put God in the center of our relationship. Of course there will always be bumps along the road, but as long as you are intertwined with God, your relationship will be stronger than ever,” he said.

With his father, former actor Dennis Roldan, celebrating his birthday on December 8, Marco said he is bringing Cristine along with the rest of his family to celebrate with his dad, who is still serving time at the New Bilibid prison in Taguig City. Marco revealed he had already brought her once before to introduce them to each other.

“Actually tomorrow, birthday ng dad ko so we get to visit him tomorrow. Actually nakakatuwa kasi buong family makakapag-visit kami tomorrow. So I think that’s the essence of Christmas and that’s what Chirstmas is all about. Of course kasama si Cristine tomorrow. Actually sobrang okay kami ni Cristine. We understand each other a lot. We ground our relationship through God and  yun yung pinaka-importante sa aming dalawa. So everything’s good. Okay naman kasi yung dad ko naman very supportive siya sa akin so tomorrow second time nila magkikita ulit,” he added.
