Richard Juan meets Ji Chang-wook at Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong

Richard Juan attended the 16th Asian Film Awards held at the Palace Museum in Hong Kong on Sunday, March 12.

In an interview with PUSH, the actor-host remarked that it was an honor to attend the event which puts the spotlight on Asian cinema.

“This is a prestigious event that celebrates the best of Asian cinema, and it was an honor to be a part of it. It's a great opportunity for Asian cinema to be showcased and recognized on a global scale,” he said.

He added: “It's also significant because I believe it is one of the first major entertainment events that Hong Kong has hosted since the pandemic started.”

Richard remarked that it was refreshing to be back in Hong Kong after such a long time of not being able to attend an in-person entertainment event in the city.

“The atmosphere was electric, and I think everyone was just so happy to be there and to celebrate the return of entertainment events in Hong Kong.”

Richard walked the red carpet of the Asian Film Awards and donned a suit made by Filipino designer Chynna Mamawal.

“It was actually quite last minute because I didn't know I was going to walk the red carpet, but thankfully Chynna was able to make something work!” he shared.

“We went for something a bit more trendy, with a loose-fitting suit that was comfortable to wear. I think it's important to feel confident in what you're wearing, especially when you're in front of the cameras!”

At the said event, Richard met Korean actor Ji Chang-wook, who received the Next Generation Award at the awards ceremony.

Richard shared that he met Chang-wook at the pre-event. “I was at the pre-ceremony cocktail event, mingling and chilling with some friends, when suddenly we heard screams outside at the red carpet. We all knew it was for one of the biggest stars of the night, Ji Chang-wook," he relayed. 

"Everything happened so fast that next thing you know he was walking into the event and I made sure my camera was ready to capture that selfie moment as he walked by!”

The actor-host shared that selfie moment on his Instagram page.

Fans of Richard were quick to react on his selfie moment with the Korean actor.

Richard grew up in Hong Kong before going to the Philippines to study at the University of the Philippines. He later on entered show business and also became an entrepreneur.
