Dimples Romana and Boyet Ahmee celebrate 20th anniversary

In fact, Dimples’s dad was the basketball coach of Boyet, but the two only met when Dimples was already in college. </p><p>They started out as really good friends, where Boyet was Dimples’s confidante after a heartbreak. </p><p>&quot;Sometimes, the end of something is a beginning and the opening of a door that is meant for you all this time,” she shared. &quot;I would tell him anything. He was there the whole time. We were friends and he saw everything.”</p><p>Dimples was 17 years old while Boyet was 26 years old when they first became a couple. After two years, they tied the knot and had their first child. At that time, Dimples was just 19 years old. </p><p>“We all have a chapter in our stories that we draw lessons from,” she once said, admitting that is was a challenge being a teenage mom and a young wife. </p><p>They went through a lot of trials as a couple and as new parents. While they may seem very put together today, Boyet admitted that they also had to overcome a lot of challenges to get to this point.</p><p>&quot;We went through a lot,” revealed Boyet. “Bago kami dumating dito, life taught us the hard way talaga.”</p><p>There were moments of doubt and uncertainty. </p><p>“We start off as scared,” Boyet admitted.  </p><p>“I don’t think there was ever a decision in our lives where we weren’t scared,” seconded Dimples. “But courage is not the absence of fear. It’s fear being there but still doing what you decide to do anyway.”</p><p>Even during the times when it got too difficult, their foundation as friends kept them together. </p><p>“When we have lost respect for one another as husband and wife, the respect of friendship did not diminish,” shared Dimples. </p><p>They held on fast to the vows they made to each other, and that helped them overcome the rough patches. </p><p>Dimples reminded couples not to seek for perfection in their marriage, but instead have that “conscious effort to love, to care, to accept, to forgive, to believe, to have faith, to hope and to embrace, and doing it over and over again, everyday, all day.&quot;</p><p>While their love story isn’t all sunshine and roses, neither is it something that she ever regretted.</p><p>“Keeping the love alive and staying together was a choice we had to make everyday,” posted Dimples on their 17th year together. “And it’s a choice we happily say yes to each time.”</p><p>After 20 years of marriage, Dimples and Boyet remain each other’s partner, confidante, and best friend, and they choose to stick together for years to come.</p><p>“Right by you, Ta,” Dimples promised Boyet.</p>
