“I am open to surrendering to the safest way for my baby boy to arrive,” answered British singer Jessie J to anyone who would ask what her birth plan was.

She hoped for a natural birth, and did everything to prepare for it.

Strict food, the epi no, yoga, swimming, hypnobirthing methods. I had a tens machine, a birthing comb,” she shared. “I wanted a pool birth ideally with no medication.”

However, she shared that these preparations were not a guarantee.

“This was MY plan to stay disciplined and focused. I knew full well it could and would most likely go in a completely different direction,” she said.

During a check-up, it was seen that her baby was turned around, and she was advised that a caesarian birth may be necessary for the baby’s safety.

“I had a scan at a few days off of 40 weeks and he was completely the wrong way around and stuck as he was a little chunkier than your average and long,” she recalled. “I did everything to try and turn him for 2 months but he said, ‘Nah mum I wanna make an entrance out the roof, not the front door.’”

In an Instagram post last June 2, 2023, Jessie shared a video of herself dancing in hospital clothes.

“This video was taken 5 minutes before I went down to surgery,” she revealed. “I went into active labour the night before and feeling all the feels but mostly just excitement for us to meet our baby boy.”

Was she disappointed that she didn’t get to follow her original birth plan? Not at all, she said.

“I had a birth and it was everything I wanted because I got him at the end of it,” said Jessie. “That’s all that matters.”

It can be recalled that Jessie suffered a miscarriage in November 2021. Despite her grief at the time, she decided to still push through with her scheduled show in Los Angeles. She explained that singing was her way of expressing herself.

“I want to be honest and true and not hide what I’m feeling,” she said. “Not just for the audience but for myself and my little baby that did its best.”

Despite her loss then, Jessie was grateful and believed that being a mom was still a possibility for her.

“To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget,” she said. “I know I will have it again.”

True enough, she got her second miracle soon after.

Early this year, Jessie shared the news of her pregnancy. On her Instagram post dated January 7, Jessie proudly showed off her baby bump, along with the positive pregnancy test results and sonograms of her little one.

“I am so happy and terrified to finally share this… Please be gentle with me,” she requested. “Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate-covered pickle with no questions asked.”

Since then, Jessie had been sharing photos of her pregnancy journey. She proudly shared her growing baby bump and her thoughts about being a mom.

She also took time to give a shout out to fellow moms and share some words of encouragement.

“You are incredible, on your rough days and your good days. You are beautiful. You are inspiring,” she reminded them. “Do not let anybody steal your shine and happiness. Ignore the projectors and the ‘you just wait” people 😂🙄 You are allowed to feel everything. The joy, the excitement and the 🤯 whether it’s your first time or your 5th time. You are doing it your way and that’s the only way to do it.”

In February, Jessie revealed that she was having a baby boy.

“Since I wrote this song every time I play it or sing it he moves like crazy,” she shared, posting a video of herself singing to “her fave audience member”.

She also shared photos taken by her sister of her bouncing about on her bed, all smiles as she waited for her baby.

“Home stretch at home stretching,” she shared.

Congratulations to the new mom!
