Arnolfo Teves Jr. is now detained at Camp Bagong Diwa, following a transfer order from the court.Teves was transferred to the Metro Manila District Jail in Camp Bagong Diwa Wednesday afternoon, after the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 51 <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/11/manila-court-orders-teves-transfer-to-camp-bagong-diwa-jail-1144">ordered his transfer</a>. He was previously detained at the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/30/teves-faces-media-after-deportation-1049">National Bureau of Investigation facility </a>inside the Bureau of Corrections compound in Muntinlupa City.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/5/nbi-brings-teves-to-manila-rtc-for-arraignment-0823">Court enters not guilty plea for Teves in explosives charges</a></div>The transfer was confirmed on Wednesday by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago.&quot;Considering that the Regional Trial Court&#x27;s Branch 12 and 51 have already issued commitment orders, the AD for Intelligence and the NBI-SMD Detention Cell Facility Chief are directed to immediately commit the person of Former Congressman Arnolfo A. Teves to the SICA (now Metro Manila District Jail),&quot; Santiago said in a message to the media.Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, legal counsel for Teves, said the court denied their motion to keep Teves at the NBI facility. Following the commitment order, NBI personnel escorted Teves from Muntinlupa to Camp Bagong Diwa on Wednesday, where he was formally turned over to BJMP custody.Teves is facing charges for the murder of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and several others in an attack in 2023. These cases are currently pending before Manila RTC Branch 51.    Degamo had been distributing aid at his home in Pamplona when six people carrying rifles and dressed in military fatigues entered the compound and opened fire on March 4, 2023.The killings came months after Degamo was declared winner of a disputed vote, unseating Henry Teves, the ex-lawmaker&#x27;s brother.Arnolfo Teves was expelled from the House of Representatives after refusing to return to the Philippines to face murder charges.He was detained at a driving range in Dili last year, but a Timorese court blocked his extradition. Manila&#x27;s justice secretary suggested the decision may have been bought, saying it was &quot;obvious that some people are making money out of this&quot;.In an abrupt turnaround, Timor-Leste <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/29/teves-back-from-timor-leste-2-years-after-degamo-slay-2001">deported Teves</a> in late May, saying his continued presence represented a security risk.<div>— With a report from Agence France-Presse</div>
