Gian Sotto set to revive showbiz career

<div><span style="background-color:transparent">As the only son of veteran showbiz personalities Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa, Gian Sotto said it was only natural for him to be comfortable growing up in the same industry.</span></div><div><span style="background-color:transparent">Currently serving his second term as vice-mayor of Quezon City, Gian shared that he has never turned his back on acting.</span></div><div><span style="background-color:transparent">“Alam niyo ang daming nagsasabi sa akin niyan. Sa totoo lang hindi naman ako tumigil, lagi lang akong patay. Kasi laging kontrabida yung napupunta sa akin na role o kaya extra. So pag nalingat ka, hindi mo ako makikita (laughs),” he shared while attending the grand opening of Chavit Singson’s new BBQ Chicken restaurant at Robinsons Magnolia in Quezon City earlier this month. </span></div><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2017/1/10/fresh-scoops/look-gian-sotto-and-joy-woolbrights-adorable-famil-52232" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>LOOK: Gian Sotto and Joy Woolbright’s adorable family photo</strong></a></div><p>The 45-year-old family man and father of five also revealed that he currently has a film project in the works with his cousin Oyo Sotto.</p><p>“May mga sinusulat kaming mga content right now and abangan niyo kasi meron kaming sinulat na inspirational film that’s about hope, faith, and love for God. Ako ang nagsulat nun and may mga kasama akong kasama sa industriya who are with us in church as well that want to push for that film. Hopefully it will come out this year. Kung saan tayo i-lead ni God, dun natin ipapalabas. Na-shoot na. Ini-edit na lang.  Basta abangan niyo. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Diyos for this blessing. In-acknowledge ang aking nanay. To be given that recognition, si mommy idol ko rin yan eh. Hindi ko kaya umiyak katulad niya. Talagang drama actress si mommy. Pero yung contribution talaga niya sa Philippine cinema and bilang isang ina rin sa aming fmaily, talagang I’m really grateful and she really deserves that award,” he said. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2023/6/7/tito-vic-at-joey-lilipat-na-sa-tv5-1011" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>READ: Tito, Vic, at Joey, lilipat na sa TV5</strong></a></div><p>Gian also weighed in on the recent controversy QC Councilor and actress Aiko Melendez found herself in after posting TikTok videos from inside the Quezon City Session Hall last month.</p><p>“I really did not see anything wrong during that time dahil hindi pa nag-se-session nung time na yun. And the truth is, lahat ng mga councilors and staff were very happy that day dahil yun yung day na sini-celebrate namin yung three years in a row, nakuha ng Quezon City ang unqualified opinion mula sa COA. And that’s the first time in the history of Quezon City na nagpapatunay na ang ating good governance campaign and fight fight for good governance is really successful.</p><p>“Never pa kasi nangyari sa QC yun so we wanted to celebrate that. Pinaghirapan ng mga staff, ng mga konsehal who are really hardworking at naging tapat sa serbisyo nila. Kaya for me, I didn’t see anything wrong with it. Nung nag-start ang session, siyempre everybody is in their place, professional ang ginagawang trabaho. Para sa akin, I discourage TikTok during sessions, yan lang ang masasabi ko. Siyempre pag nagsimula na ang session, ini-expect tayo magtrabaho ng tao so tuloy tuloy po yun,” he explained.</p>
