Singer mrld now has the most monthly listeners on Spotify Philippines

O/C Records artist and 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Visayas mrld is now the solo Filipina artist on music streaming platform Spotify with the most monthly listeners, with 4,174,152 monthly listeners surpassing Moira dela Torre who has 4,076,396.

Since her debut track "An Art Gallery Could Never Be Unique As You" in 2021, she’s been making noise not only in the Philippines, but in other parts of Southeast Asia as well.

Recently, her single, “The Fate of the One Not Chosen” has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist in over five countries. Currently, it is featured in Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia.

During her label’s 5th anniversary kick-off show at 19 East, mrld received two gold record awards for reaching over 50 million streams for her tracks, “An Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You” and “Ligaya” which now have over 83 million streams and 74 million streams, respectively.

In an Instagram post, she thanked O/C Records executives Kean Cipriano and Chynna Ortaleza as she reminisced how she started with them.

She said, “Still insane to think about the time where it was 1 a.m., trying my best not to sound loud so my parents wouldn’t wake up, singing to [Kean] and [Chynna] on Zoom and then telling me I sound great,” she wrote.

“In a blink I was then asked if I wanted to sign and join the O/C Family.”

She added, “I have no regrets since they did help me with a lot of things. Thanks for believing in me and my music.” 

Right now, her single “Ikaw Pa Rin,” has over 36 million streams, and is part of the soundtrack of Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga’s movie Will You Be My Ex?
