During the cast reveal for his newest film project Karnabal, director Adolf Alix Jr. shared why he is planning to shoot the more than hour-and-a-half long movie starring EA Guzman in just one long take.

“Yung concept kasi, parang mas exciting siyang gawing ganun. Excited kasi ako as a director dun sa performances ng artista, like paano siya nag-wo-work. Yung ganong dynamics ang sarap lang niya panuorin,” he shared with the press.

Compared to his previous films, Adolf says Karnabal is in a whole different format.

Yung tuhog, walang putol. Yung actual one hour and 45 minutes we while shoot ng walang putol. So parang doon iikot yung kuwento. So para kayong totoong nanunuod ng isang lalaking biglang umakyat sa billboard,” he said.

When he was deciding on the storyline, direk Adolf said he felt that it was a story everyone can relate to and shared why he decided EA was the right fit for the role.

Because the movie will be shot continuously in a public space along EDSA, direk Adolf said he has already planned to incorporate any unplanned participation from the public who might be there at the shoot unintentionally.

“Siyempre hindi natin mapipigil kasi it’s an open space. Magagamit din I think. Yung magic ng improvisation, malay mo may biglang bumaba, lumapit, makitulong, makigulo. So I think those moments kailang ma-discuss din. Maganda rin siyang exercise,” he admitted.

Before they begin shooting for the film soon, the Karnabal director shared how he has been preparing with the cast and the production crew.

“One day (rehearsal) pero may meetings na before and on the location itself. Siyempre mas mahirap dahil may heights. Kasi may rescue (scene) also,” he added.

Karnabal will be directed by Adolf Alix. Jr. and is being produced by BC Entertainment. It stars EA Guzman, Jaclyn Jose, Gina Alajar, Ricky Davao, and Joel Saracho. The film is scheduled to start shooting soon and set for release later this year.
