By the fact that a production wants to get me for a lead role and it’s <em>Tick, Tick… Boom!</em> which I am very familiar with because I’ve seen the film. I’ve also seen some snippets of the off-Broadway production. So it’s something that I really wanted pero I really thought na, ‘How will I pull this off?’ Because this is like an opportunity like no other. I don’t think I’ll ever come across this opportunity again if I decline it. </p><p>“So I had to talk to a lot of artists who did that crossover as well, from TV, film, to stage and musicals. And they all almost said the same thing, this is something that you should’ve done a long time ago. So it’s a no-brainer. You have to say yes because that’s a helluva role. We did a very trashy production of <em>Pippin</em> in school which I’m not proud of because I wasn’t really serious. Back then I was a really rowdy high school kid na wouldn’t care about anything (laughs). So I don’t consider that experience. My experience is acting in TV and film. Obviously this is the first time that I will be acting and singing live, so that’s something new. It’s a very different material as well because this is set in New York so this is an all English musical. And the songs which I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with now, are so incredibly good and very high (laughs). </p><p>“It really tested me to be honest. I haven’t sung professionally in a long time. I kind of took a back seat in singing when I transitioned to acting. So this is the first time in the longest time where I actually worked on my voice and it has been stretched to its limits. And now I’m happy that I’m getting there.
