ABS-CBN released an official statement on the evening of September 4, 2023 regarding the recent decision by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board or MTRCB, the governing body which monitors television and film in the country, on the fate of noontime show It’s Showtime.  

“We have received the ruling from the MTRCB, indicating that ‘It’s Showtime’ will be suspended for a duration of 12 days from finality of the decision,” acknowledged the show’s home network.

The review board attested that several viewers filed complaints, thus prompting them to issue a Notice to Appear and Testify to the producers of the show.

ABS-CBN reiterated their support for the ‘It’s Showtime’ family and stood by their belief that no laws were broken by the said show. While they did confirm their plan to file for reconsideration, ABS-CBN also affirmed their willingness to work with the regulatory board and maintained their respect for MTRCB.

“We will submit a Motion for Reconsideration as we humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law,” the statement continued. “We are also committed to working with the MTRCB to ensure that ‘It’s Showtime’ can continue to bring joy and entertainment to our noontime viewers.”

Despite the challenge, an outpouring of support came from the many fans of the show, as well as artists who have been part of it.

To all the show’s supporters, ABS-CBN also extended their gratitude for the words of support sent their way.

“We are truly grateful to the Madlang people for their unwavering love and support for ‘It’s Showtime,’” they ended.

This has not been the first storm to hit the show these past months. From a a noontime slot on TV5, It’s Showtime made a surprising move to GTV last July.

Through all the ups and downs, the It’s Showtime family remained steadfast in their support for each other and their unwavering commitment to the Madlang People.
