The stars have aligned for Filipina trainee Elisia Parmisano as she secured her K-Pop debut. She was the first to reach level P in the South Korean survival program Universe Ticket earlier this week. The 14-year-old singer earned enough votes from fans to secure the top position in the program.

Elisia rose to the P-level of the South Korean show which earned her debut slot. Getting the “Universe Ticket” is determined through the producers and fan votes as well as their fellow candidates in challenges.

On the other hand, Filipino Gehlee Dangca and Filipino-Korean Jin Hyeon-ju of cignature, are still fighting for the remaining slots of the eight-member girl group.

Gehlee is currently ranked at second place on level R––just a bit more until she reaches level P. Meanwhile, Jin Hyeon-ju is at the 10th spot on the I level of the program.

Meanwhile, several Filipino celebrities showed their support for the soon-to-be K-Pop artist. Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez congratulated Elisia through an Instagram post. The Kapamilya singer shared a throwback photo of herself and the Filipina trainee.

“This little girl is all grown up now and making a name for herself in the K-pop world 😊 Congratulations Elisia we are very proud of you,” Regine wrote.

Rewind star Marian Rivera gave a video greeting in her Instagram Stories the moment she found out about the young singer’s win.

“Ipagpatuloy mo yang mga pangarap na 'yan at alam kong marami ka pang magagawa at mararating,” Marian said.

Elisia is the latest Filipino to take up the challenge to become a K-Pop star. Previously, Sophia Laforteza was chosen as a member of Katseye–– a girl group co-created by South Korean label HYBE and American Label Geffen Records.

Other Filipino talents in the South Korean industry include LAPILLUS’s Chanty and the all-Filipino boy group HORI7ON.
