Janno Gibbs on death of Ronaldo Valdez: ‘He wanted to go on his own terms’

<p>Singer-actor Janno Gibbs shared that his father, Ronaldo Valdez, may have “wanted to go on his own terms” after he passed away last December 17. In an interview for Karen Davila’s vlog on YouTube, he opened up about what transpired prior to the veteran actor’s untimely passing.</p><div><iframe width="1349" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/V62rGXGA9gU" title="JANNO GIBBS Reveals Truth Behind Dad’s Death #RonaldoValdez | Karen Davila Ep136" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>Ronaldo was 77 years old when he passed away. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2023/12/18/janno-gibbs-confirms-death-of-dad-ronaldo-valdez-1058" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>READ: Janno Gibbs confirms death of dad Ronaldo Valdez</u></strong></a></div><p>Janno recalled that he was there the afternoon that the late actor passed. He shared that he was in the other room taking a nap before leaving for his personal schedule. </p><p>“I was there. I was in the next room. I think he even made sure that I was sleeping. He knocked on my door, I was sleeping. I was taking a nap, hapon,” he recalled.</p><p>The singer-actor added that it felt like his father made sure that he was sleeping before his untimely death. </p><p>“[Sabi niya,] &#x27;Oh, hindi ba tuloy yung lakad mo?&#x27; Sabi ko, &#x27;Tuloy, kaso wala pa yung car. Wala pa yung driver.&#x27; Sabi ko idlip muna ako... I think he had a bad day or he was having bad days and he wanted to go on his own terms,” he continued.</p><p>Despite having a traumatic experience, Janno bared that he doesn’t feel guilty about what could’ve been but rather he is deeply sad with what happened during and after the incident. </p><p>“Guilty, no, because I was taking care of him, I was with him everyday. So no guilt, no questions na what if I… what could have been. But [I am] deeply sad about it. Malagim na nga ‘yung nangyari, and then people added to it. The police, the netizens, the vloggers… put salt on our wounds,” he said.</p><p>Meanwhile, he shared that his late father knew how much he was loved not just by his family but his fellow actors in the showbiz industry as well.</p><p>“I know he’s listening, so I’d like to say I hope you’re in a better place, no pain, and thank you for loving me,” he added.</p>
