Selena Gomez on future of music career: ‘I have one more album in me’

"I do feel like I have one more album in me."

These were the words of Selena Gomez while sharing her thoughts about her future as a singer.

In an interview in the Smartless podcast, Selena pointed out that she wants to pursue one career as she grows older. 

"The older I get the more I’m kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on," she said.

The singer also admitted that she did not expect that she would be venturing into music when she was starting in the industry as she set her eyes on acting.  

"I thought it would be fun and I thought more than anything it would be a hobby that I really enjoyed. I wanted to be an actress. I never really intended on being a singer full time but apparently that hobby turned into something else," she said.

Back in December 2022, Selena shared what fans can expect in her upcoming album in an episode of The Tonight Show.

"I'm so used to writing sad-girl songs. But I'm ready to have some fun and I think people are going to like it," she stated.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Vanity Fair in February 2023, Selena shared that she wants to produce music that will make people smile.

"If I had my way, I would probably write ballads my whole life, but I want to produce music that will make people smile," she remarked.

The singer added: "The music I’m doing right now is about real things that I’m walking through. It’s really powerful, strong, very pop. The theme generally is freedom—freedom from relationships, freedom from the darkness."

The last time that Selena released an album was in 2020 with Rare.

The album produced Selena's first No. one song on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Lose You to Love Me."

Other singles on the album included "Look at Her Now," "Rare," and "Dance Again."

In August 2023, Selena released a single titled "Single Soon."
