Teejay Marquez reveals his simple ‘iwas hulas’ tips

As an actor and a model, 30-year-old actor Teejay Marquez said it took him some time before he learned the right way to diet and keep fit while working in showbiz. 

“Kasi payatin ako so before nag-da-diet talaga ako. When it comes to food yun ang binabantayan ko. Pero nung nalaman ko na puwede pala akong kumain ng kumain, habang nag-wo-workout ako, kumakain talaga ako ng kumakain. Pero siyempre puro healthy foods din. Iniingatan ko rin na kumain ng hindi ma-sugar, pero more or less ngayon ma-rice ako. Di ba hindi nahahalata pero matakaw ako (laughs),” he said.

Admired for his always fresh looking face on and off camera, Teejay said it just takes a simple secret to maintain.

“Siguro huwag lang kayo masyado magpaka-stress kasi siguro lahat naman ng pinagdadaanan natin kailangan natin pagdaanan yan pero just focus lang na huwag niyo masyado isipin, always look at the brighter side of things at saka drink lots of water.  And of course, i-pamper niyo yung sarili niyo, magpa-massage kayo, gawin niyo lahat para maalagaan niyo lang hindi lang yung panlabas pati yung pangloob,” he advised.

In 2018, Teejay starred as one of the members of F4 in Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta, Indonesia's version of the hit 2001 Taiwanese TV series Meteor Garden which first aired in the Philippines in 2003. Even though he has long since left Indonesia, he has not forgotten his loyal fans there.

“Hindi naman sila nawawala sa isip ko. Pag nag-po-post ako, they’re so proud na may ginagawa ako sa Pilipinas. But yeah meron pa naman akong kontrata sa Indonesia, like for five years. And they’re waiting for me na matapos yung mga project ko dito and then happy rin naman sila na may Makiling ako kasi sabi nila finally makikita nila ako sa teleserye sa GMA. So happy naman ako na happy sila,” he said.
