<p dir="ltr">Miss World 2013 winner Megan Young apologized to the citizens of Botswana who alleged that she “pulled a witchcraft” on their contestant, Lesego Chombo, after trying to fix her hair during the Finals night of the pageant. Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszková took home the win after a convincing performance all throughout the pageant. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2024/3/7/megan-young-to-host-miss-world-2024-in-india-1611"><strong>READ: Megan Young to host Miss World 2024 in India</strong></a></div><p>“Last night during the final, I fixed Lesego Chombo’s (Miss Botswana) hair on stage. I wanted to offer a helping hand but I failed to oversee the bigger picture,” she admitted. “This could have caused distress during that moment and I have been made aware that culturally, this is unacceptable.”</p><p>Megan revealed that she has personally spoken to Miss Botswana right after the event and has since apologized to her directly. The Miss World host shared that she is taking full responsibility for the backlash that followed.</p><p>“To those who witnessed the incident, I also want to apologize for any discomfort or confusion my actions may have caused. I deeply regret my actions and will strive to be more mindful and respectful in the future,” she ended.</p><p dir="ltr">Meanwhile, netizens have shown mixed reactions to Megan’s statement. Majority of her fans expressed their full support as they didn’t see anything wrong with what the beauty queen did, while others–– mostly fans of Miss Botswana–– continued to lash out on her in the comment section.</p><p>“Or you need to come to Botswana to apologise... our hearts are not white because of you,” a fan said.</p><p dir="ltr">“We know that a true Queen stand on their mistake and apologize with bravely manner. Megan Young, you are truly a Queen. Hugs for you Megan,” another fan added.</p><p dir="ltr">Megan won the only Miss World crown of the country back in 2013. Since then, she has been active in the Miss World Organization by being the host and presenter for several years already. Her hosting stint this year marks her return to the Miss World stage after the pandemic.</p>
