Big Hit Music announced on Thursday, April 25, that BTS leader RM will be releasing his second solo album this May. Despite being enlisted in the military, the 29-year-old rapper and songwriter is set to release Right Place, Wrong Person album on May 24, according to a notice posted on the fan community app, Weverse.

The album, Right Place, Wrong Person, is said to have 11 tracks, and according to the announcement, “[it] captures some universal emotions that we all experience at some point in life, such as the feeling of being an outsider who doesn’t fit in.”

The sound of the album has been described as one from the alternative genre, with rich sounds coupled with honest lyrics from RM.

This album isn’t RM’s first solo venture into the music scene. His debut album, Indigo, was released back in December of 2022, and was met with acclaim and garnered millions of streams on platforms like Spotify.

In fact, Indigo made history as the fastest album by a Korean soloist to reach 300 million streams on Spotify. Indigo also debuted on the US Billboard charts, with its title track, “Wildflower” debuting at number 1 on the Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, and the album itself debuting at number 1 on the Billboard’s World Albums chart.

RM and the rest of BTS are currently fulfilling their mandatory military service in South Korea. Despite the enlistment, the group has made it clear that their hiatus won’t stop them from releasing new music and content for their fanbase.

Just recently, J-Hope released new music, despite being enlisted in the military. His album, Hope on the Street Vol.1, was released last March 29, and its release was accompanied by a six-part documentary series on Prime Video.

Fans can expect BTS to return from their hiatus after all members have finished their military service in 2025.
