So, well, again, the senators will decide,&quot; Marcos told reporters in a chance interview.</p><p>&quot;We are watching, of course, what the Senate President, Chiz Escudero, is doing to try to make it as a peaceful a transition as possible from this Congress to the next,&quot; he said. </p><p>He added that the impeachment trial &quot;is really a function of the Senate right now&quot; and &quot;we leave it to them.”</p><p>Escudero on Monday took his oath as presiding officer of the impeachment court after hours of plenary debate, setting in motion the impeachment trial. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/9/escudero-takes-oath-as-presiding-officer-of-senate-impeachment-court-2120">Escudero takes oath as presiding officer of Senate impeachment court</a></div><p>Senators on Tuesday will take their oath as judges before the Senate convenes as an impeachment court on Wednesday.</p>
