<p style="margin:0cm">Filipino boy group BGYO has taken legal action against individuals allegedly spreading false information about its members.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">On Wednesday, June 19, the group filed cyber libel and unjust vexation complaints at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">The members—Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate—are standing up against cyberbullying, aiming to curb the dissemination of lies and misinformation.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">Since their debut in 2021, BGYO has been the target of various allegations, including cheating, bullying, and drug use. These accusations have primarily circulated on social media, affecting the group’s reputation and mental health.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">In response, Star Magic, BGYO’s management, announced in April that they will pursue legal action against those perpetuating these unfounded rumors.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">Star Magic’s legal counsel, Atty. Joji Alonso, emphasized the importance of gathering evidence and holding the perpetrators accountable for their unlawful behavior.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">“Filing of criminal cases will be set in motion. Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying, but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect, both online and in real life,” Atty. Joji stated.</p><div style="margin:0cm"> </div><p style="margin:0cm">BGYO’s recent release, “Gigil,” released on June 7, has garnered over 190,000 streams on Spotify and more than 166,000 views on YouTube.
