<div>Former actress Rica Peralejo shared her opinion about the trending opening ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 27. The celebrity, who is known for her Christian faith, revealed she doesn’t have any problem with the performance as it didn’t “diminish” her faith.<img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/Rica-Peralejo-weighs-in-on-2024-Paris-Olympics-opening-controversy-1.jpg" style="width:1000px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>The opening ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which raised criticisms mostly from those of Christian faith, included a segment recreating a feast with Dionysus, the Greek god of wine-making, fertility, and festivity.</p><div>Many instead mistook it as a recreation of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting &quot;The Last Supper,&quot; a representation of Jesus Christ with his disciples. There was an outrage on social media as some Christians believed that it was a mockery of their faith for the entertainment of others.<img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/Rica-Peralejo-weighs-in-on-2024-Paris-Olympics-opening-controversy-2.jpg" style="width:1000px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2024/7/27/lady-gaga-on-performing-at-the-olympics-it-s-a-gift-i-ll-never-forget-2045"><strong>READ: Lady Gaga on performing at the Olympics: &#x27;It’s a gift I’ll never forget&#x27;</strong></a></div><p>Rica shared that she didn’t see the performance as the Last Supper but rather than the Feast of Dionysius. She believed it would’ve made more sense because of the origins of the quadrennial competition––Dionysus is the God of wine-making in Greek mythology.</p><p>“Kaya pala no matter how much I look at it hindi naman Last Supper yung efek sakin 😂 and here are the Christians being so outraged and honestly, this makes the Christian faith talaga look unthinking and unreasonable more than ever,” she wrote.</p><p>She maintained that fellow Christians should think more before reacting as it sets their faith in a bad light.</p><p>“Time na for the Christians to think talaga of how people can believe in us when we keep representing the faith as reactionary. Reacts before thinking. Enraged before understanding. Others then would automatically think the faith is for fools! She claimed that while their emotions are valid, it will be harder for them to let non-believers see them as “reasonable people.”</p><p>“We all have our feelings and opinions. But I honestly think that when we lash out like that, people really have a hard time seeing us as reasonable people. Also kasi nga when we think of the things that get us angry in comparison, ang hirap ireconcile,” she continued.</p><p>Meanwhile, the 2024 Paris Olympics organizers have since then sent their apologies to affected groups about their opening performance.</p><p>&quot;Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group…If people have taken any offense, we are of course really, really sorry,&quot; Paris 2024 spokeswoman Anne Descamps shared.</p>
