Aiah Arceta, a member of the popular P-Pop girl group BINI, has voiced her concerns about privacy after several incidents where fans ignored her personal space went viral on social media.

On Sunday, July 7, following BINI’s BINIverse concert in Baguio, Aiah posted her statement on Instagram explaining her recent absence from social media.

“Hi Everyone. I haven’t been active lately on social media, and I haven’t been responsive to messages, even some of my family and friends. The truth is, a lot of things have been happening lately, and I just needed some time and space to process them. I appreciate and am grateful to everyone who has been so kind, understanding, and patient with me,”Aiah wrote.

She detailed her recent trip to Cebu, where she hoped to relax and spend time with family and friends. Despite her intentions, some fans did not respect her need for privacy. Aiah described instances where fans would run up to her, take photos without consent, and share real-time locations online, compromising her safety.

“I like taking pictures with others and meeting people who are passionate about music and entertainment. However, I hope people also see and respect us as human beings. We don’t always get to go out lately because we have been busy with work, and the least we can ask for is for others to respect our personal time and our humanity,” she added.

Aiah also emphasized the importance of kindness online, urging people to be considerate with their words and actions: “Lastly, I also want to remind everyone to be kinder with their words and actions, especially when expressed online. You never know how much it could take a toll on somebody and affect them on a daily basis. I hope we can fill this world with love, respect, and positivity.”

Following BINI's three sold-out shows at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City from June 28 to June 30, Aiah sought to de-stress in Cebu. However, the lack of privacy during her visit highlighted the ongoing issue of personal space for public figures.

Fans were quick to respond to Aiah’s message, expressing support and understanding.

One fan commented, “These messages are not only for the fans but also for the casual audiences. This applies not just to Aiah but to all BINI members. Let’s spread love and kindness.”

Another added, “Enjoy their performances, and let them also enjoy their personal lives in peace. Not every opportunity is an instant meet and greet. Learn to ask for permission and respect their wishes.”

In a related incident, Maloi Ricalde, another BINI member, faced a similar situation while dining with her family in Batangas, surrounded by fans seeking photos.

Addressing these incidents, Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi appeared in a video on BINI’s social media pages, urging fans to respect the group’s privacy.

“I hope that when our members are spending their personal time, especially with their families and friends, you will also show respect for their privacy and personal space. They are also human beings who need to interact with others,” Direk Lauren said. He appealed to fans, noting the group's hectic schedule and the need for them to enjoy some semblance of a regular life.

BINI, known for hit songs like “Pantropiko”  and “Salamin, Salamin,” remains one of the most prominent music acts this year.
