Mujigae is about a 5-year-old Filipino-Korean of the same name who finds herself in the care of her aunt, Sunny (portrayed by Alexa Ilacad), after losing her own mother in South Korea. She flies to the Philippines and navigates an unexpected journey–– finding her place in the world with grief, cultural complexities, family, and community.

Alexa admitted how difficult it was for her at first doing the role of a mother figure but eventually she learned the ropes and had several realizations about motherhood.

“It’s so hard to be a mother and while shooting na miss ko yung mom ko palagi it takes so much selflessness to be a mother. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, kaya ba to ever?” she shared.

The Kapamilya star added that while she isn’t thinking about becoming a mother just yet–– as she is still only 24 years old–– she is open to the idea that maybe one day when everything is settled in her life.

“Of course the Alexa of me today, wala pa talaga sa isip ko yan di ko pa naiisip at all–– me as a mother, me having a family–– it's not something I want. I want to build a career, I want to be really really really rich. Maybe one day as long as I’m stable and [have] a good partner with me,” she revealed.

When asked about when she plans to become a mother, Alexa simply shared when the time is right as she doesn’t want to conform to the standards set by society. She assured all women that being a mother or not is only a choice they shouldn’t be shamed for whatever their choice may be.

“It’s okay kung iba ang choice mo sa life. I don't think that makes you less of a woman if you choose not to [not be a mother]. If you choose to live your life in a different way or path, that’s totally fine but if you do choose to take care of a kid, kayang kaya. As long as you choose to love everyday,” she ended.
