In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for the TFC show BRGY, the broadcaster reflected on her journey as a YouTube vlogger.

"I love YouTube and I'll be honest with you, I started YouTube May 2021 so I've been on it now for three years and sa totoo lang takot na takot ako mag-YouTube noon," she revealed.

Karen recalled that YouTube was different from newscasting hence she had apprehensions at the beginning.

"I've been in television all my life so ang alam ko lang is TV. In other words, naging broadcaster ako without the pressure of uy magpro-produce ka or gagawa ka ng ganitong kwento, dapat panoorin ka. Because essentially, you're in the news you do it because they need to be told," she pointed out.

"But YouTube is different, right? Dahil naisip ko nun wow if I start my YouTube channel sino naman ang manonood sa akin? Hindi naman ako sikat na artista na ang laki ng fanbase ko, so I was so worried."

Eventually, her worries were swept away as her YouTube vlogs gained viewers and followers. Karen shared why she thinks her YouTube vlogs work.

"There were people who actually guided me before I started my channel. I wanted to understand YouTube more and I think what I did in YouTube, the reason it works is because it's not about me. My YouTube is an inspirational channel and gives you a glimpse in the lives of other people, mostly celebrities, but it's also about other things in their lives," she stated.

The broadcaster went on: "In the end, I always believe that there is a co-relation in the bible. The bible gives us so many promises and I always want to be able to connect it that when you have faith, you will overcome whatever hardship you will experience."

Karen highlighted that her journalism background has also helped her in crafting vlogs for her YouTube channel.

"What I appreciate is parang when I interview celebrities is they always tell me that when they go on my YouTube hindi nila pakiramdam na artista sila. Parang they feel the questions aren't showbiz, that it's really about them," she said.

"With that I really have to credit my journalism background because when you're a journalist, you're actually trained to hear the stories of people regardless of who they are."

"I didn't know then but I know it now to be appointed as a UN Women Goodwill ambassador means I lived it. I think why it's really special to me is because that appointment was all about my track record. They went through stories I did with The Correspondents, my reputation, things I stood for on social media and essentially how I live as a woman," she remarked.
