Sarah Burton has been appointed as the Creative Director of Givenchy, succeeding Matthew M. Williams, who stepped down earlier this year. Her arrival marks a new beginning for the French luxury fashion house as she will lead both the women’s and men’s collections.

Sarah is no stranger to the fashion world, having spent two decades working with Alexander McQueen, starting as an intern. After the designer died in 2010, she served as Creative Director for 13 years. During her time with the brand, she masterfully blended Alexander’s signature theatrics with romantic aesthetics earning her place as one of the most well-respected designers in the industry.

Her most famous work came in 2011 when she was commissioned by Catherine, Princess of Wales to design her wedding gown, a piece that solidified her career as a designer of iconic and timeless creations that balance tradition and innovation.

Sarah’s appointment to Givenchy is expected to bring a new level of sophistication. Her ability to combine bold, avant-garde elements with timeless and classic pieces is anticipated to define her creative direction while paying homage to the French brand.
