Around two years since the last time that we’d seen her act on television via her special participation in the long-running Kapamilya action drama FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Aurora, the one and only Megastar Sharon Cuneta is poised to make a teleserye comeback this year under Dreamscape Entertainment.

This was officially announced in a red-carpet rollout event mounted by ABS-CBN on Wednesday, July 3, and was attended by chief operating officer Cory V. Vidanes, entertainment production head Laurenti Dyogi, and Dreamscape Entertainment heads Kylie Manalo-Balagtas and Rondel Lindayag.

While details about the series, such as its title, other cast members, director(s), and target release date, are yet to be unveiled, ABS-CBN News showbiz correspondent MJ Felipe caught up with the ecstatic Megastar in this for “On Cue.”

She began by relating that her best memories of doing teleseryes were while doing FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Although she’d been sick for a few days, she felt nothing but excitement, joy, overwhelm, and kilig towards this project, especially the people she’s going to work with. Without dropping any names, she hinted that she already got to work with one of her co-stars in the past, while it’s going to be her first time working with her other castmates, which adds to her exhilaration.

Aside from taking a rest during her two-year break, Sharon also took it as an opportunity to bond and create more memories with her children, especially with her daughters Miel and Frankie, whom their family is sending off to New York City this coming August to pursue their college education. While she’d already gone through this situation twice with her firstborn KC Concepcion and Frankie, she confessed that she seemed not to be prepared to let go of Miel yet.

“You’re never really prepared. Kahit maghanda ka, hindi ka talaga mahahanda, hindi ka umaabot sa point na ‘yon kasi, una, mahirap na ngang tanggapin na bakit ang bilis nilang lumaki? Parang dumaan na lang ‘yong [panahon]?” she related, mentioning that Frankie is turning 24, while Miel is bound to be 20 this year. At the same time, she also couldn’t believe that her unico hijo Miguel is already 14 as it only felt yesterday when they celebrated his 3rd birthday and introduced him to the public.

The Megastar then expressed her elation to be welcomed by the ABS-CBN executives, along with some employees, and imparted how she got overwhelmingly touched when they told her how much they missed her. She told MJ, “Who wants to be anywhere else but home?”

Even though she’s very thankful to the people outside ABS-CBN and other stations who entrusted her with several projects, nothing still compares to the warmth that she feels every time she’s here, especially since she has been here ever since she was around 20 years old. She recounted how she had witnessed the reopening and rebuilding of the media company in the ‘80s, as well as its continuous growth up to the present.

“How can you exchange that for anything, ‘di ba? Parang they’re such a big part of my own personal and professional history. Tapos, feeling [ko], kahit papaano, [I’m] also a little part of the history of ABS-CBN. Kahit wala na ako, pagdating ng araw, my grandchildren, they’re gonna know that,” Sharon stated.

When quizzed about how she feels to be reunited with Dreamscape Entertainment for her much-awaited upcoming project, she said that she cannot express in words how excited she is. However, it pains her, at the same time, that its former chief and founder, Deo Endrinal, is no longer around since the production unit has been so good to her.

She then reiterated how Coco Martin had made “such a perfect experience” for her and everyone part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, as well as how excited and grateful she is that Dreamscape is handling the project.

“I promise you that I’ll give my best to this project, lalo na since dalawang taon po ako nagpahinga sa TV. So, I’m really excited. Tapos ‘yong makakasama ko, ‘yong isa [ay] mahal na mahal ko [kaya] ‘di na kayo magugulat kapag nalaman n’yo. ‘Yong iba, first time ko makakasama, ‘yong mga alam ko palang ha. So, talagang patong-patong [at] sumasabog ‘yong heart ko sa excitement at sa saya. At siyempre, more than anything else, it’s being back with my home station, being back with my Kapamilyas. Just being home,” Sharon said.

As MJ was about to conclude the interview, Sharon uttered a surprising statement about not actually intending to stay much longer in the industry since she has other life goals that she aspires to fulfill.

“Life is short, time flies by very quick, and I want to enjoy the rest of my years with my family. I want to travel with my husband, with my friends, with my children. I wanna be there for my kids if they’re going to give me grandchildren,” she confided.
