The best of Atayde siblings Arjo, Ria and Gela’s ‘bukingan’

The year 2023 was an eventful one for the Atayde siblings. The ‘Kuya’ of the gang, Arjo Atayde, made waves globally thanks to his stellar performance in the drama series “Cattleya Killer.” Beyond his career in front of the cameras, he also had a myriad of achievements as a public servant. And despite having to juggle a lot of projects and activities, Arjo was able to balance work and love – he got married to Maine Mendoza in July.

The clan’s beloved bubbly girl, Ria Atayde, was back in her element as a power actress via “Nag-Aapoy Na Damdamin,” a groundbreaking teleserye collaboration between ABS-CBN and TV5. And just like her kuya’s, her love stars also aligned this year, as she and beau Zanjoe Marudo finally admitted their relationship.

As for Gela Atayde, the phenomenal hip-hop force of the bunch, 2023 was an amazing year for her dance group Legit Status which won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship held in the U.S. And now she’s ventured into acting via “Senior High.”

When asked to spill fun facts about Ria, or Wiwi as he fondly calls her, Arjo talked about his sister with so much adoration.

He divulged that Ria has amazing generosity, reminding us that she supports several causes and charitable institutions. He further shared that Ria is the only cat lover in the family and the she can’t live without pizza. She is an adventurous soul who loves nature trips like hiking. He added that Ria is a people-person, “Magaling siyang makisama sa mga tao. She adjusts to everyone, not trying to adjust but just being herself.”

When it was Ria’s turn to give fans a closer look into Arjo’s personal life, she had the most interesting things to share.

According to her, Arjo isn’t used to being idle. When bored or not working, he keeps himself busy through little activities like playing mobile games. "Call of Duty" is his favorite. Arjo has two dogs. He loves beach trips, but, interestingly, he only stays on the shore, “He doesn’t swim if it’s at the beach.”

“Arjo doesn’t like cold food. Kailangan mainit ‘yung pagkain niya,” Ria added. And, her 5^th revelation is that “Arjo will fall asleep two minutes into any movie or series we watch at night.”

In Kapamilya Chat’s “The Atayde Sibling Game,” Gela played who’s who among their brood, and shared that Arjo is always the instigator of ‘bullying.’ “I think Kuya’s love language is ‘bullying.’ Ever since I was a kid, I grew up na Kuya was my ‘bully.’ But I never took that against him,” smiled Gela, who further divulged that her kuya is the most ‘makwento’.

Giving gifts is their other love language, which they simulated from their parents. Their parents also instilled in them good money-spending habits. Thanks to Gela, we also learned that Ria is the organizer of their trips and get-togethers, hence the ‘dominant’ one.

The Atayde sibs have truly made it big in 2023. And as the year draws to a close, it’s clear that they have not only conquered the entertainment industry but have also forged stronger bonds as a family.
