Ever since kicking off his showbiz career 12 years ago, James Reid has consistently remained as one of the hottest talents of his generation. With his irresistible charm, unmistakable handsomeness, and impressive acting and musical talent, he’s able to continuously keep his star shining.

And in this episode of PUSH Evolution, let’s look back on his remarkable journey through the years!

Those who have ardently followed his career would know that his ticket to the local entertainment scene was by joining Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 when he was 17 years old. Being a Filipino-Australian, he was among the “teenternational” housemates of that edition, and later on emerged as the Big Winner.

As soon as he went back to the outside world, he released his first-ever digital EP titled “We Are Whatever,” together with his ex-housemate and bestfriend Bret Jackson. His acting career also took off as he appeared in ABS-CBN programs “Good Vibes” (2011) and “Pintada” (2012). However, it was only in 2014 when he finally snagged his first ever lead role through the movie adaptation of the popular Wattpad novel “Diary ng Panget” in 2014.

His team-up with Nadine Lustre, fondly called by fans as “JaDine,” was indeed a success, thus, it was followed by two more movies – “Talk Back and You’re Dead” (2014) and “Para Sa Hopeless Romantic” (2015). It was also in 2015 when they were bestowed their first-ever Primetime Bida series “On The Wings Of Love”, where he made us fall in love with his character Clark Medina. They also got cast in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Beauty and the Bestie”, and starred in the “Stuffed Toy” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

It was in 2016 when the 28-year-old actor ‘fessed up his love for his on-screen partner during their JaDine In Love Concert. He later confirmed their relationship in an interview in the now-defunct news program “Bandila,” wherein they disclosed that they officially became a couple on February 11 of that year.

In that same year, the reel-to-real tandem went on to deliver kilig through their teleserye Till I Met You and film “This Time.” The following year, they were welcomed as new members of the It’s Showtime family and, at the same time, worked on their music career – with James establishing his own record label Careless Music and releasing his first album “Palm Dreams”.

He went back to acting in 2018 through the critically-acclaimed flick “Never Not Love You,” wherein he got paired anew with Nadine, and then in the Sarah Geronimo-starrer “Miss Granny.” He was then chosen to become one of the judges of Idol Philippines in 2019, alongside Vice Ganda, Moira Dela Torre, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

The year 2020 was indeed an eventful one as he surprised everyone with his declaration that he would be focusing more on his music career, along with the sad announcement that he and Nadine had already split up after four years of being together, which truly broke the hearts of their fervent supporters.

He continued to make music in the past two years despite the pandemic, and once again made headlines when speculations regarding his alleged transfer to Los Angeles, California for good circulated in the worldwide web. However, his dad Malcolm Reid clarified it by sharing that James just went there to work on a new project and to visit his brother Andrew as well.

The actor-singer collaboration with Jay B of GoT7 and Taiwanese rapper ØZI for the single Hello 2.0 (Legends Only) was also released by Transparent Arts, a US-based agency that promotes Asian-American talents in which the three of them are all part of.

Last March 28, James was spotted at the Hollywood red carpet of the 30th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, which was attended by other international celebrities. In his interview with ABS-CBN North America Bureau correspondent Yong Chavez, he related how he got starstruck by a lot of people that he met at the event.

He may not have announced a specific date yet on his return, but he’s reportedly going back to the Philippines soon.

What can you say about James’ evolution as an artist in the past decade, Kapamilya?
