IN PHOTOS: Ronnie Lazaro with his handsome unico hijo

We certainly know FPJ’s Batang Quiapo star Ronnie Lazaro as one of the most renowned character actors in the country, having appeared in a slew of movies and television series throughout his five-decade prolific career.

But with all the hats that he has worn, there’s one role that he certainly treasures and enjoys taking on the most – and it’s none other than being a dad to his unico hijo Gabriel, who he shares with his beloved Spanish wife Maria Dolores “Lola” Pizarro. Not much is known about their family, but we’re able to discover a few things about his son by exploring the internet and going through his posts on Instagram.

Early this year, Ronnie and Gabriel had an exclusive interview with esteemed broadcast journalist Julius Babao on his YouTube channel, wherein they enthusiastically talked about their relationship with each other, as well as their dynamics at home.

According to the FPJ’s Batang Quiapo star, he met Lola, who has been teaching Spanish language at Instituto Cervantes, through a common friend in the ‘90s. They got married in 1995 and gave birth to their son that same year. Gabriel graduated from the Berkeley School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts in 2023, and is currently pursuing his career in the local music and art scene of the Philippines through performing in various gigs.

Going through his posts on IG, we can see videos of him playing the bass guitars, drums, trumpet, saxophone, and flute, as well as singing songs in jazz, funk, blues, and rock genres. He told Julius that he has formed a band with his best friend who plays the drums and they usually play heavy rock songs and the songs that he composed.

With regard to treading on the same path as his father, Gabriel said that although he loves watching movies, has experience writing screenplays, and currently does commercials, he believes that he doesn’t possess the acting prowess like his father’s or see himself taking part in huge projects.

“I think when I was younger, I wanted to distance myself from him because it was so attention-grabbing or whatever. But I feel like a lot of my artistic intuition comes from my dad’s influences and ideas,” he conveyed when quizzed about how it feels to have a dad like Ronnie.

Gabriel also had nothing but nice things to say about his dad as Julius asked him what he could say about his dad. He stated, “I feel like he’s a great father first and foremost. And recently, as I have developed my own art, I have become of a fan of his as well in that sense because I do think that he’s very artistically minded and he has very unique ideas and approaches for his craft.”

He also imparted having a fun and memorable childhood as he was able to create a lot of good memories with his dad.
