Avid television and movie viewers through the years may have been familiar with Nonie Buencamino since he has appeared in a slew of teleseryes and films, usually playing father and/or villain roles, just like his character Marcelo Macaraig in the top-rating action drama series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/batangquiapo">“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”</a>But unlike Marcelo, who’s not aware that he has a child with his ex-girlfriend Olga (Ryza Cenon/Irma Adlawan), the veteran character actor actually has an intact and happy family in real life. He’s been blissfully married to his beloved wife and fellow renowned thespian, Shamaine Buencamino, for over three decades now, and together they’ve raised four beautiful and talented children. They are Sarah Delphine, Gregorio Martin, Jose Antonio, and Julia Louise.And in this feature, we’re going to put the spotlight on his son, Jose, who described himself on his Instagram bio as “Diver. Composer. Cuddler of Dogs”. Based on the short bio written on his website, he was born on January 2, 1997, and graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the College of Music of the University of the Philippines-Diliman in June 2020.Aside from being a musician who has written for dance, film, and concert stage, as well as performed in various events and received recognitions from various institutions here and abroad, Jose is also a certified CMAS-PAUA (Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques - Philippine Association on Underwater Activities) 1-Star scuba diving instructor who loves to share his scuba adventures through his IG posts, as well as his knowledge with other people who also like to dive into this activity.In January 2023, he imparted on IG that he visited Bohol to take part in the discussion and facilitation of the foundation of a CMAS freediving federation in the Philippines, “which includes registration with the Philippine Olympic Committee - a very important step, as this ensures that Filipinos who compete locally and abroad will be recognized as official representatives of the country.”Apparently, it’s not just him in their family who finds pleasure in this activity, but also his Daddy Nonie. We could see several snaps on their respective IG accounts that show them happily diving together, which they usually do on his birthday. For Father’s Day 2020, Jose expressed in his post how glad he was that they “have this activity together.”Nonie may tend to get busy with his acting projects left and right, but being the sweet and loving husband and dad that he is, he makes sure to not miss the important events in the lives of his cherished family by either showing up or paying tribute to them on social media.
