HONG KONG -- Filipino-made Mober is to cargo as Uber is to commuters and the man behind the technology startup hopes to hurdle many challenges to trace the ride-sharing service's path to success.

Scarce funding, little support from government and crawling internet speeds make it difficult for startups in the Philippines, Mober founder Dennis Ng told ABS-CBN News.

"We want to be biggest on demand mobile delivery application in Southeast Asia. We want to be Philippines' Uber for logistics," 45-year-old Ng told ABS-CBN News.

"All app providers are having the same problem with internet connection and lack of government support," he said.

Mober is competing in a market dominated by established courier services like LBC, FedEx and UPS.

Around 300 Filipinos showcased their wares at the Rise Conference for startups and venture capitalists here, hoping to become the next big thing in technology.

One of the conference speakers, Filipino tech billionaire Nix Nolledo, said apps like Mober needed all the help it could get.

With enough support, Nolledo said the country could produce the next Uber.
