SM has asked authorities to probe a circulating text message warning of a bomb attack in some of its major malls.

In a statement dated September 6, SM also denied issuing the warning.

"We are requesting the authorities to verify the source of the information circulating, as said information was not released by any SM officer," the company said.

The viral text message urged people not to go to certain SM malls, which are supposedly targets of terror group Abu Sayyaf.

But SM said they will ensure the security of mall-goers and clients.

"We continue to stay alert and committed to the security and well being of our customers, tenants and employees at all times," SM said.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) earlier allayed fears that a terror attack will hit Metro Manila in the wake of the deadly Friday night explosion in Davao City.

NCRPO director, Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said there are no validated reports of an impending terror threat in the metropolis.

He added there is also no truth to a text message that circulated some two weeks ago, saying that four women will launch an attack in Metro Manila.

"Wala pong confirmation iyun pero si syempre hindi po natin ipinawawalang bahala," he said. (That had no confirmation, but we are not brushing it aside.)

Abu Sayyaf bandits have claimed responsibility for the explosion that killed 14 individuals in Davao City's Roxas Night Market. The group also warned that similar attacks should be expected in the coming days.
