<p>MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte has no obligation to tell the public about her personal trip to Australia, she said in response to a comment from the Palace for her to do so.</p><p>Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro had urged Duterte to give more details of her trip since she said she was still doing her job while traveling.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/22/sara-duterte-to-filipinos-in-melbourne-convince-australia-to-look-into-injustice-vs-digong-1601"><strong>Sara Duterte tells Filipinos in Melbourne: Urge Australia to look into &#x27;injustice&#x27; vs Digong<br/></strong></a></div><p>“‘Yan ‘yung example ko sa inyo na bobo talaga, ‘di ba?” Duterte said in an interview with local media in bailiwick Davao City, Friday, June 27.</p><p>(That is an example of how stupid they are, right?)</p><p>She maintained that government officials who are on leave for personal trips and who are not using government money don&#x27;t need to disclose anything.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/23/sara-duterte-on-australia-personal-trip-clearly-i-m-not-on-holiday-0906"><strong>Sara Duterte on Australia personal trip: Clearly I’m not on holiday<br/></strong></a></div><p>“Kapag gumagamit ka ng pera ng gobyerno, official business ‘yan, kailangan mo mag-report,” she said.</p><p>(If you are using government money on official business, that&#x27;s when you need to report)</p><p>She also denied that she was ‘angry’ and ‘emotional’ when she responded to the Palace’s criticism on her personal trip and called the administration “bobo” or stupid.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/27/sara-duterte-says-they-never-reached-out-to-australia-for-dad-s-interim-release-1919"><strong>Sara Duterte says they &#x27;never reached out&#x27; to Australia for dad&#x27;s interim release</strong></a></div><p>The Palace has called attention to Duterte&#x27;s frequent personal trips abroad, including to visit detained former President Rodrigo Duterte in the Netherlands.</p><p><strong></strong>Castro said Vice President Duterte is free to travel but that these <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/20/sara-duterte-leaves-ph-anew-for-personal-trip-to-australia-1301">may be at the expense of her official duties.</a></p><div><br/></div><div><strong>‘POLITICAL SCAPEGOATING’?</strong></div><p>Duterte also  accused the Marcos administration of &quot;political scapegoating&quot; after the Palace played down her interview with international media as a diversionary tactic.</p><p>Duterte had accused President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of  wanting to stay in power by eliminating her as the “frontrunner” in the 2028 presidential elections.</p><p>She said she was being used as a &quot;political scapegoat&quot; to distract from government&#x27;s failures.</p><p>“Kapag walang nangyayari sa administrasyon mo at walang ginagawa ‘yung principal o ‘yung presidente, ang gagawin nila is magtuturo ng ibang tao. Kapag merong kuwestyon sa kawalan ng ginagawa ng administrasyon, ang gagawin nila ay magtuturo sa ibang tao para nawawala &#x27;yung tanong at parang nagugulo ang mga tao,” she said.</p><p>(If your administration and the President are not doing anything, what the administration will do is point at someone else.)</p>
