MANILA - Uratex grew from a P4,000 capital nearly half a century ago to become the country&#x27;s largest foam manufacturer, thanks to a hardworking husband and wife tandem.Company president and co-founder Natividad Cheng said she was &quot;very thrifty&quot; during the early days of Uratex and her husband took on delivery chores just to save as much money as they could.&quot;Tulad ng karamihan, kailangan natin ng sipag, tiyaga at tipid,&quot; Cheng said in an exclusive interview with ANC&#x27;s The Boss.(Like most endeavors, you need to be hardworking, patient and thrifty.)Whatever money the Cheng couple saved, they invested in equipment to make their products at par with American and European brands, but at a lower price.&quot;Yung ambisyon namin, mag-produce ng the best quality,&quot; she said.(Our ambition is to produce the best quality.)Cheng said her current mattress has been with her for 16 years.<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/trending/11/08/110817-cathy-yang-uratex.jpg"/><figcaption>Uratex president and co-founder Natividad Cheng speaks to Cathy Yang for ANC&#x27;s The Boss</figcaption></figure></div>Uratex will mark its 50th year in business with a P1-billion plan to invest in new factories in the Visayas and Mindanao.Cheng said Filipinos are now leaning more towards quality than price when choosing their beds. Bed-shoppers comprise 30 percent of Uratex&#x27;s market, while industry accounts for 70 percent.&quot;Huwag natin dayain mga customer natin. Lahat sila, partners natin sa hanapbuhay,&quot; she said.(We shouldn&#x27;t cheat our customers. They are all our partners.)
