MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Friday assured his administration’s commitment to promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the international market, as he noted the exceptional and world-class quality of the products made by the local design community.

Marcos made the statement as he attended the Manila FAME 2024 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Considered the country’s premier trade show for home, fashion and lifestyle products, the Manila FAME showcases creations from local enterprises, craftsmen and artisans, and serves as a vital link of Philippine MSMEs to global buyers and industry leaders.

“Now, I would even go so far as to say that now we are -- in many cases that I’ve seen here today -- surpass world-class. We are better than others,” the President said.

“I’m sure anyone who is in a market for these designs whether it be furniture or fashion, everything else that we’ve seen today, I’m so confident that we will do well in the world market. So, that’s what we are trying to promote and to find ways that your work can be seen abroad.”

Marcos Jr also noted the government is ready to assist MSMEs in scaling up their businesses, noting the industry’s contribution to the economy.

“The design industry contributes 7.1, 7.2 percent of our GDP. And that is --- when you translate that into pesos, that’s trillions of pesos. So, it’s not a small thing. So, all of the reasons for us to do this and to do it properly are there for --- for the government, for the country, for all of our practitioners,” he said.

“And we will do everything that we can so that the world will know even better how good Filipinos are. Iyong galing ng Pinay makita ng buong mundo.”
